Don Brown and Mardi Harrison are a retired couple who are using their retirement savings to fund real estate rehab (flipping) projects.
Don sold his business in 2013 and Mardi closed her law practice at the same time so that they could retire together.
It took about 4 hours for them to realize traditional retirement wasn’t going to be for them. They both wanted to actively give back to the community. At the same time, they interviewed a dozen financial planners and the one thing they agreed on was that they didn’t want to invest in the traditional stock market.
Mardi always wanted to be involved in real estate, so, she became a licensed realtor. And while Mardi was looking for potential real estate clients, they stumbled on the local real estate investing organization, DIG, and quickly learned what rehabbers needed most was funding for the projects.
